Dexcom has officially broken ground on its new state of the art facility in Athenry.
The US multinational is headquartered in California, and this is its first European plant, creating over a 1,000 permanent jobs here.
Dexcom manufactures high-tech diabetes equipment, is headquarted in California and operates manufacturing plants in Arizona and Malaysia.
Dexcom and Connacht Rugby have also announced a 12-year naming-rights partnership, with The Sportsground to now be known as 'Dexcom Stadium'.
Minister for Enterprise Simon Coveney says the scale of this project is hard to grasp

The Government is being urged to urgently support the hospitality sector as many Galway city businesses are on the brink of survival
That's according to City Councillor, and former Mayor of Galway Clodagh Higgins, who has received many desparate pleas from struggling business owners.
The Fine Gael councillor will set down a motion at the next city council meeting, calling on the Government to introduce a suite of measures to support the industry.
They include a reduction of the VAT rate to 9 percent, an overhaul of the electricity support, and an extension of the Warehouse Tax scheme
Councillor Higgins says the hospitality sector is a crucial pillar of our society, and businesses need more support:

The defective water mains that caused boil water notices for premises on the Milltown Road just outside Tuam town last year will be replaced next week.
Councillor Pete Roche has confirmed that Farren Contractors will be on site next week to carry out the works.
It's expected the upgrade will take 10 to 12 weeks, and Uisce Eireann says disruption will be kept to a minimum.
Cllr Roche says the works will be a huge relief to residents in the area who have been impacted by poor water quality:

Never in the economic history of the state have so few created so much misery for so many people.
That's according to Galway West TD Mairead Farrell, who took aim at the Government during a Dáil debate on housing.
She said many people can't afford to buy, but many more are increasingly finding themselves unable to afford sky-high rents.
Sinn Fein Deputy Farrell also asked why the Government hasn't taken tougher action on vulture funds.

The Irish Government is "waiting for the big boys to make the decision" when it comes to opposition to Israel's actions in Gaza.
That's according to Galway West Deputy Catherine Connolly.
Speaking in the Dáil, she said she's disgusted by the Government's attitude and behavior to date.
Deputy Connolly argued we should be supporting South Africa in the case it has taken to the International Court of Justice.

Galway County Council is being urged to prioritise extra funding for playgrounds throughout the county
Galway East TD and Disability Minister Anne Rabbitte says the council could allocate some of its increased Local Property Tax to the cause
The council's baseline is increasing from €14.5m in 2023 to over €20m this year.
Speaking to Galway Talks, Deputy Rabbitte says the funding should be used to improve playground facilities and make them more accessible
