Potential arrests in relation to suspected arson attacks on accommodation centres are 'not too far off', according to the Justice Minister.
A number of investigations are ongoing into attacks at centres - one of which in Dublin was due to house homeless families.
There was also another attack at a hotel in Rosscahill which was due to house asylum seekers.
Justice Minister Helen McEntee says it's her belief the cases are progressing:

There are calls for increased culling of deer in Portumna and surrounding areas.
A recent Loughrea council meeting heard how farmers are losing ground due to deer grazing.
While Councillor Ivan Canning also highlighted that deer are often wandering out onto roads, causing dangerous situations for drivers.
Councillor Canning says at the very least more fencing needs to be erected on the effected roads.

Pressure is being put on the Active Travel team to prioritise placing a school in Tuam on the Safe Routes to School list.
No school in the area was chosen under round one or two of funding, with the next two rounds to be announced this year.
The programme aims to accelerate the delivery of walking/scooting and cycling infrastructure on key access routes to schools.
Councillor Andrew Reddington reiterated his frustration that Tuam has yet to be successful in the funding call

A number of Galway routes have been included in the publication of Ireland's first National Cycle Network. 
It's been launched today in Sallins, County Kildare by Minister Eamon Ryan.  
It'll include 85 cycle corridors across the country, combining existing and planned greenways with a new network of safe cycle routes along existing roads.
Galway City will be a primary node, connected to Castlebar, Ennis and Athlone, while Tuam, Loughrea and Ballinasloe will be secondary nodes. 
It's expected the project will be completed by 2040, at a cost of around 1-point-4 billion euro.
Minister Eamon Ryan says developments like this aren't cheap for a reason:

A commitment has been given to carry out a speed and traffic survey for the old Galway road and the N65, which passes through Loughrea and Portumna
Several councillors have raised the dangers of both roads and the need for increased safety measures at a recent meeting of the Loughrea Municipal District.
Councillors were informed that a commitment was given before Christmas to carry out surveys in relation to both roads.
Councillor Shane Curley says while there's still a responsibility for drivers slow down, routes such as the old Galway road need increased safety measures
