The University of Galway's Student Union is set to mark its sixtieth anniversary this May with an alumni reunion.
It has many notable past leaders, including President Michael D.Higgins who served as UCG SU President from 1964 to 1965
The current SU is looking to invite all past and present SU officers and staff to the on-campus reunion in the SU Club on Saturday, May 18th.

As the current cold snap continues, councillors are calling for more public salt bins to be provided throughout Galway
Low overnight temperatures are causing difficult travelling conditions, in particular on side roads and pathways as priority is given to main routes.
Galway County Council engineer’s report to Tuam councillors outlined that the council was not in a position to grit every route as there is over 6,000 miles of roads within the county.

Connemara Fianna Fail Councillor Noel Thomas says Micheal Martin has destroyed the party - and he'll "never" accept him as leader. 
He was speaking in the aftermath of Garda raids on a number of homes in Roscahill, including his own and that of Councillor Seamus Walsh. 
The dawn raids were in relation to an ongoing investigation into the burning of a local hotel that was earmarked to host asylum seekers. 
Councillor Thomas claims the action was politically motivated, given his critical and outspoken views on Government policies on asylum seekers. 
And he was asked on Galway Talks if he's not a part of the Government - given he's a Fianna Fail councillor.
