Galway East TD and Minister Anne Rabbitte is calling for County Boards to use funding provided by JP McManus to improve accessibility of facilities
The McManus' Charitable Foundation is donating €1 million to every county board, to be evenly divided between GAA, camogie and ladies Gaelic football clubs.
Minister for Disability Anne Rabbitte, is asking GAA Clubs to consider using some of the funding to make club grounds more accessible for people with disabilities.

A small number of homes and businesses in Oughterard and Kilcolgan are without power following strong winds.
A status yellow wind and rain alert expired in Galway at 6AM this morning, after a night of stormy weather.
It's expected power will be restored to affected premises in Kilcolgan shortly, while those in Oughterard may be waiting until 3PM for their power to return
A Status Yellow gale warning is in place in coastal areas, while another Yellow rainfall alert is has been issued for Donegal, Leitrim, North Mayo and Sligo.
That remains in place until 9pm tonight.
Cathal Nolan of Ireland's Weather Channel says more flooding is also likely.

There are calls for a second contractor to deal with the problem of mould in council houses across Galway city.
A recent City Council meeting heard that a contractor was already carrying out works on the affected homes.
However, there's believed to be a back log of houses affected.
Galway City East Councillor Alan Cheevers says the mould is a severe hinderance to tenants who have health issues:

Planning permission is being sought for a new greenway at Derryfadda Bog in Ballinasloe.
The project is led by the Ballyforan Area Transition Team, and would see a 3km shared walkway and cycleway built around rehabilitated peatland. 
It'll be bordered by the River Suck to the north and east, and there'll also be a carpark, bicycle parking, and pedestrian access paths. 
Funding of almost €1m for the greenway was awarded through the Just Transition Fund. 
Local Senator Aisling Dolan says this is a fantastic opportunity - and the Ballyforan Area Transition Team have done incredible work.

Locals are being urged to use the new Mountbellew to Galway bus route or else they may lose it.
The service began on December 17th, but Galway County Councillor David Collins has said it seems as though many people are unaware of it.
He says a lot of work has gone into getting the 7-day service up and running from Mountbellew to the city.
Speaking to Galway Talks, the Fine Gael councillor says it's a service that offers a lot flexibility to those on the route

Health services across the West are advising the public to become familiar with their care options before the winter period
It comes as the Health Protection Surveillance Centre has revealed that Galway is one of the worst impacted counties for cases of flu this month.
Community Healthcare West is reminding people that Westdoc is available out of GP hours over the Christmas period.
People are also being advised to visit their local pharmacy for symptons of the common cold, and to contact their family doctor if necessary
