A University of Galway academic has been awarded a 2 million euro health research grant from Europe.
Professor Ines Thiele was awarded the funding from the European Research Council for her work on the AVATAR project.
The project uses an advanced computer model to look at the connections between genes, metabolism and diet, and their impact on health.
This model then predicts if a person is at risk of health issues based on this data, and offers tailored advice and coaching
Professor Thiele says it's hoped that a prototype will be developed through the grant:

If we want to attract healthcare staff back to Ireland, we need to ensure they're coming back to more than old buildings and prefabs.
That's according to Deputy Sean Canney, who says infrastructure projects need to be progressed far faster in this country.
He points out that UHG is a supposed centre of excellence, but is still reliant on prefabs and old-style nightingale wards from the 1950s and 60s
He also referenced an ongoing saga at Tuam Primary Care Centre - which has been open seven or eight years but still has no X-Ray facilities due to red tape.
Deputy Canney told the Dáil if we want to attract staff, the system has to change.

Galway County and city councillors continue to be at odds when it comes to the number of gigs held at Galway Airport next year.
County councillors unanimously voted for no restrictions to be imposed on the site at last evening's meeting.
But last week, city councillors voted in favour of a motion carried to limit the number of concerts at the Galway Airport to six.
Councillors are now moving to set up a joint committee, and some members will meet this Friday to discuss it further.
