An Annaghdown man has been honoured with a National Certificate of Bravery by the Ceann Comhairle at a special ceremony in Dublin.
It's part of the National Bravery Awards that are held annually to allow for State recognition of exceptional acts of Bravery.
Joseph Cahill, who lives in Ballybane in the city, was nominated for helping his neighbours escape a house fire in the early hours of January 12th this year.
Joseph says he didn't think twice about helping out when he realised what was happening that morning:

A University of Galway clinical researcher and sexologist, Dr. Siobhan O'Higgins, is concerned that pornography has become too accessible for children.
Her view is based on a RedC survey that shows over 70 per cent of participants believe the Government and tech companies should be doing more to protect children and young people.
Dr. O'Higgins from the UG School of Psychology says children as young as eight are accessing porn through their smart phones:

Galway West TD Catherine Connolly says the Israeli Defence Forces is a "warmongering, vengeful army out of control".
Contributing to a Dáil debate on Gaza, she argued that Ireland is not going far enough in condemning what's happening there.
She acknowledged the Taoiseach utterly condemned Hamas - but argued there wasn't a similar condemnation on the Israeli response.
Deputy Connolly said if we're to have any credibility as a neutral state, there must be consistency.
And she claimed the fact that two thirds of those killed so far have been women and children shows the IDF is anything but a "defence" force.

A leading disability advocate is welcoming planned accessibility improvements in Eyrecourt but says more needs to be done
Three new disabled parking spaces are to be installed in the area, along with the resurfacing of a large section of the square.
Councillor Declan Kelly has been working alongside Physical Impairment Ireland to improve accessibility and supports in the area.
Chair of Galway Disability Forum, Peter Gohery, who is from the area, says a better understanding of disability barriers is needed:

Salthill-native Senator, Gerard Craughwell is recommending The Taoiseach to sit back and listen at an international conference on Gaza
Leo Varadkar is in Paris today where he will attend an International Conference on Humanitarian Assistance for the Civilians in Gaza.
The Taoiseach will meet with leaders from the region to discuss how to help Irish citizens who want to leave, and will hear from aid agencies working there.
Former member of the Defence Forces and local senator Gerard Craughwell says the Taoiseach shoud adopt a listening approach today.
