A Roscommon/Galway TD says the number of children without a school bus place in County Galway is much higher than estimated
322 children are currently without a school bus place, with 32 of these children having additional needs.
The figures were obtained directly from the Minister for Education.
Sinn Fein TD Claire Kerrane says these children qualify for the scheme, but have missed out due to internal issues in Bus Eireann.
She also says many parents are unable to take their child to school without the bus service

New electronic basketball scoreboards have been installed in three community centres across Galway City.
Cappagh, Westside and Renmore will now have permanent scoreboards and will be used for all adult and juvenile basketball games.
It's understood that the scoreboard in Cappagh will be of a high enough standard for matches played in national leagues.
Galway City West Councillor John Connolly says the previous method of scoreboards was cumbersome:

Heart and Stroke charity Croí is hosting a public event in Tuam tomorrow (Oct 26th) to mark World Stroke Day.
The charity aims to raise awareness on stroke prevention and on how to live life after a stroke.
The event starts at 2pm in the Family Centre.

CSO figures show just over a thousand new homes have been built in Galway city and county so far this year
It's slightly more than the same period in 2022, with the majority of them in the county.
Nationally, over 22,000 new homes have been built in the first nine months of this year, a 9 percent increase on last year.
However, the Taoiseach has conceded the Government will need to build much more than 30-thousand homes a year.
In the Dáil, Taoiseach Leo Varadkar says the Government will increase its housing targets in 2024:
