The 27th annual Baboró International Arts Festival for Children has been launched at an event in Bonham Quay in the city
Companies from all over Europe and Ireland will bring a diverse range of events across dance, drama, circus, spectacle, art and stories to Galway from October 13th
Galway’s theatres, galleries and public spaces will be open for children to explore and play, and to enjoy the many events that will be on offer over the nine days.
Leah Hogarty was at the launch last night and spoke to TG4 kids presenter, Niamh Ní Chroinin, about how Baboró is intergrating the Irish language into its programme:

People in Tuam are now beneffiting from the addition of a second ambulance and crew .
The additional service at the Tuam Ambulance Base is on a 24-hour, seven-day basis to meet the area's demand.
Galway East TD Sean Canney says this was well-needed for the region, due to delays beng experienced by locals.
He adds that people from Tuam and surrounding areas will benefit from its addition:

More than 40 children have been unable to get to school in Headford this week due to a lack of school transport.
Despite securing bus tickets, many parents in the area have since received an email from Bus Éireann stating they do not have a service for the area
Councillor Andrew Reddington is looking to organise a private operator and is asking parents to get in touch with him if they are struggling.
Meanwhile, Speaking to Galway Talks, Chair of Presentation College Headford, Councillor Mary Hoade, says it's very stressful for families:

Galway East TD Sean Canney is calling on the Education Minister to complete a long overdue review into school bus services around the country.
Hundreds of children are without a school bus place this term, after Bus Éireann said ‘difficulties had arisen’ with some routes.
The operator says it's suffering from a driver shortage which is leading to headaches for parents.
Independent TD Sean Canney says the current system is archaic and needs to be changed.

Two more drivers in Galway have been highlighted for speeding on National Slow Down Day.
One was caught doing 73km/h in a 50 zone on Church Street in Ballinasloe, while another was driving at 141km/h on the M6 at Carnmore West in Oranmore.
Gardai have just finished up their campaign, checking over 142 thousand vehicles for speeding since 7am yesterday morning.
So far this year, there have been 127 deaths on Irish roads, 23 more than the same period in 2022.
Minister Helen McEntee says the government is looking at different ways to reduce the numbers of speeding motorists

Farmers in North Galway are "sleeping with guns in their beds" because of rampant trespassing and illegal hare lurching on their lands.
That's according to Councillor Andrew Reddington, who raised the issue today at a meeting of the County Joint Policing Committee.
He told Galway Garda Superintendent Gerry Roche that he's afraid someone is going to be killed if stronger action isn't taken.
Councillor Reddington spoke to David Nevin after the meeting.
