The Status yellow rain warning for Galway for today has been brought forward and extended.
Met Eireann says the alert will come into place at 2PM, and will run overnight until 3AM.
It'll also be in place for Carlow, Kilkenny, Laois, Offaly, Wexford and Munster, with heavy rain and thundery downpours expected.
The rest of the country will be affected from 5 o'clock this evening, with difficult travelling conditions.
Met Eireann Meteorologist, Liz Walsh says people need to keep an eye as it could be upgraded to Orange:

A Galway city bus driver has slammed 'decade old timetables' which he claims are unworkable.
It comes as Bus Éireann has released a statement to apologise after a number of 405 services were cancelled over the weekend.
City driver, Mark Greaney, says timetable issues have been highlighted with the NTA, but it seems the money and desire is not there to update the services.
He says the main problem is the 20 minute run-time between services, which he says cannot be done across many Galway city routes.
Speaking to Galway Talks, he says people are understandably frustrated, and both drivers and passengers deserve better

A principal in Athenry says local schools are seeing an upwards trend in experienced teachers moving West.
Nationally, principals are reporting a teacher shortage ahead of the academic year, with a lack of housing and the cost of living being blamed.
However, Principal of Clarin College in Athenry, Daniel Hyland, says he finds this is actually helping the case for many Galway schools.
Speaking to Galway Talks, Daniel says schools here are generally not struggling to hire experienced teachers.

A group of Canadian students will visit Galway to be reunited with their miniboat which washed up on Achill Island four years ago.
The Raven KASTER made headlines when it turned up off the West Coast in 2019, having set sail from Canada over 100 days previous.
The miniboat, which is less than 2 metres in length, is being repaired and upgraded by students in Coláiste Pobail Acla, with the aim of relaunching it.
Students Kaitlyn Grandy and Stephanie Evans from Canada will visit Galway Atlantaquaria on August 26th for a meet and greet.
Speaking on their YouTube channel, the duo have said they are excited to explore Galway Bay and be reunited with their miniboat:

There has been a major step forward for watermains rehabilition works on the busy R333 Knockma Road in Tuam
The road is prone to flooding and on one occasion a burst pipe created a sunkhole.
Galway County Council has been told by Uisce Eireann that it will be making a significant investment in improving this road in next year's budget.
Councillor Andrew Reddington says although a deeper investigation into the cause of the problem needs to be done, this news is very welcome:
