Should election posters be banned?
A question that's been debated extensively in recent years, particularly in light of the need to accelerate climate action.
At County Hall this week, one local councillor said the scrapping of election posters would be a serious mistake that would amount to a 'stymieing of democracy'
Councillor Shelly Herterich Quinn says she's a major supporter of positive climate action - but scrapping election posters is not the right approach.

A public meeting will take place in Oughterard next week to discuss plans for traffic lights at the bridge.
The plans have drawn mixed views from local councillors as to how they might impact the area.
The traffic light system is a seperate project from the planned construction of a pedestrian footbridge in the area.
The public meeting will take place at the community centre on Monday at 8pm.
Speaking to Galway Talks, chair of the meeting John Gibbons indicated he's not happy with the idea.

The CEO of the Saolta Hospital Groups says a recent HIQA report highlights the mismatch between demand at UHG and its capacity.
An unannounced inspection was carried out at the hospital in February, with the results issued on Monday.
In a statement, UHG has welcomed the report, saying it will work on the issues raised, which includes overcrowding, cleaning and patient flow.

Cold water has been poured on demands for a school traffic warden in Claregalway for the upcoming school year.
Raising the issue at County Hall this week, Councillor Jim Cuddy said it's something parents are demanding, with good cause given the busy N83 running through the village.
But he was informed that no allocation was made in this year's budget - and the matter can be examined in 2024 to see what can be done.
Councillor Cuddy feels that's not good enough - and money has to be found to ensure a warden is in place for September.

It follows a serious assault on Dominick Street last Thursday morning, and another in Salthill on Sunday night
Councillor Alan Cheevers welcomes the additional Garda recruits announced for Dublin, but says Galway also needs attention.

A male received a serious head injury as a result of the assault which occurred in Lenaboy Park at around 9.10pm.

There is a call for the introduction of a pedestrian and cycle lane between Ardahan and Labane.
Gort-Kinvara Councillor PJ Murphy says the path could be placed along the hard shoulder and would improve connectivity between the two villages.
The issue arose at the recent Loughrea Municipal District Meeting where approval for a new 10-house development in Ardrahan was granted.
Councillor Murphy says a safer route between the two areas is vital due to the lack of amenities in Ardrahan.
