Sand dunes info session taking place in Ballyconneely tomorrow

An information session about the importance of sand dunes is taking place in Ballyconneely tomorrow
It will be followed by a field trip to Murvey, which will explore the work being done to protect coastal habitats and species.
The event, by LIFE on Machair and Clean Coasts, kicks off in Ballyconneely Hall at 1pm - with booking available on eventbrite.ie

Dáil hears plea to save bus stop in Old Mervue

The Dáil has heard a plea to save the bus stop in Old Mervue. 
Under the hugely ambitious Bus Connects project, which aims to transform public transport in the city, the stop would be removed. 
But Deputy Mairead Farrell argues the bus stop is used by elderly residents, day in, day out. 
She was supported by Deputy Eamon O' Cuiv who said an older demograph cannot be treated the same as a younger demograph. 
Speaking in response, Minister Jack Chambers said he'd take the issue further up the chain. 

Cyber attacks and NATO among topics at today’s Security Forum at University of Galway

The Consultative Forum on International Security Policy will move to the University of Galway today.
Among the topics will be Ireland's engagement with NATO through the Partnership for Peace framework.
Cyber attacks and growing concerns over the protection of critical offshore infrastructure will also be discussed.
