Cancer Care West has won the Community Impact category in this year's Friendly Business Awards, organised by Junior Chamber
Businesses were assessed by mystery shoppers, a public vote and independent judges.
The charity has provided support services for the last 30 years, and provides care to over 3,000 people every year.
Cancer Care West raises over 50% of their funds through voluntary fundraising and donations.

A new Storke Hub at the Croí Centre in Newcastle is expected to be opened in early 2025.
Construction is now underway for the new facility, which is being built thanks to a legacy gift from the late Joe and Helen O'Toole. 
The centre will provide additional supports for those recovering from a stroke, and marks a significant advancement in post-hospital discharge stroke care in the West.
Chief Executive of Croí, Mark O'Donnell, outlines some of the facilities and services that will be on offer at the hub:

Galway West TD Catherine Connolly has accused the Government of treating religious orders with 'kid gloves' in relation to Mother and Baby Home issues.
The Independent TD has questioned Integration Minister Roderic O'Gorman on what the orders will contribute toward the redress scheme.
Minister O'Gorman was unable to provide an update on those negotiations, but did confirm that almost 2,000 applications have been received by the instituntional payment scheme.
Deputy Connolly pressed the Minister on the negotiations with the religious orders and reports in relation to them:

Planning permission has been granted for a new primary care centre in Knockncarra.
Plans were lodged by the HSE last November, and it’s expected the facility in Galway West Business Park could be operational by the end of 2025.
Primary Care Centres are a 'one stop shop' for a wide range of health needs, however this planned centre will not include a GP surgery.
Speaking to John Morley on Galway Talks, Councillor John Connolly says the project will be a huge addition to the area
